Aussie Dentist

Me: Tooth face neck hurt ow.

Aussie Dentist: Hmm. [needle needle] Let's just pop that sucker out.

Me: Rnph ow?

AD: Sure, why not.

[AD grabs pliers, stands up, leans over, reaches into mouth, pulls out right top rear wisdom tooth]

AD: Smell that. [holds freshly extracted tooth to my nose]

Me: GAH!

That was my first gone wisdom tooth. AD asked if I wanted him to use one of his dental drills to drill a hole through it so I could put some string through it and wear it around my neck. While I have no plans to wear my gone wisdom tooth around my neck, I said Of course.

That is one nasty looking tooth.

Cost of emergency visit, x-ray, tooth extraction, temporary filling in cavity exposed after extraction: $290 AUS (about the same as US dollars). That's possibly close to what it would cost in the U.S., not sure, but I think it's a bit cheaper.

  1. ouch that sounds painful! it was about that for me to get all 3 of my wisdom teeth out last year (missing one. i claim i'm further evolved than most) for my deductible. otherwise it would have been about $1300 without insurance. he also gave me laughing gas. glad you're not in pain anymore!

  2. It may sound painful but at least you ease the burden by having your aching wisdom tooth. Anyway, that's not an everyday pain. Congrats for the bravery.

  3. I've experienced so much pain with my wisdom tooth. I guess it’s normal to encounter this pain.

  5. Thank you for sharing, I suggest putting it in a air tight storage.

  6. Sounds like a really painful extraction! And by the looks of that tooth, even my Marietta dentist would recommend it to be removed.

  7. You definitely need to have that removed, if not that tooth will sure to cause some problems.

  8. I agree with Brad. That tooth will eventually cause serious problems in your gums if not extracted not to mention halitosis or bad breath. Plano sedation dentistry

  10. Wow, and he just pulled that out? Where is your dentist based? I'm looking at dentist in Sydney City dental veneers right now in my browser and I wan't to see if I can get some veneers cheaper.

  11. My dentist suggested to me that too when she removed my wisdom tooth. Your tooth is small and I think it would look cute when you dip it into gold or silver then put a soft metal necklace.

  12. Your Aussie dentist is hilarious by making you smell your wisdom tooth that was freshly extracted. Lubbock dentists suggests to their patients that they could make their wisdom tooth into a memorable souvennir by crafting a necklace out of it.

  13. I will not even try to smell any tooth that is freshly extracted out of my mouth even though I have a good oral hygiene. The blood and the saliva will always smell awful together.

  14. I’m sure it does smell awful because my hilarious dentist did that on me too. When she suggested that I make a necklace out of it, I told her if she can clean it first. I want to dip in into silver before I craft it into a necklace.
